When the old Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman came in for a redesign after the 2016 model year, many New England Porsche fans were apprehensive. When these near-identical twins reappeared for the new model year — wearing the 2017 Porsche 718 name in both their Boxster and Cayman variants — they had a lot to prove. They’ve done quite well, proving popular not only at Porsche of Nashua, but with the folks at Car and Driver, who named the cars to their annual 10Best list.¬†

The only real difference between the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman is the former’s convertible top and the latter’s hardtop. Both cars feature stronger and stiffer chassis, while the 718 Boxster gets a new 2.0 liter flat-four engine (increased to 2.5 liters and 350 horsepower in the Boxster S trim).

The switch from naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engines to turbocharged four-cylinder engines turned out to be a very good thing. The 2.0 liter boxer engine was named one of Wards 10 Best Engines, which is appropriate when you consider how important boxers are to the heritage and history of Porsche cars. The switch may have been aimed at hitting emissions targets, but it had the net effect of making two legendary cars perform even better.

The Porsche 718 Cayman and Porsche 718 Boxster are available right now at Porsche of Nashua. While we appreciate both cars’ critical acclaim, we’re especially happy when our Manchester and Danvers¬†customers return from a test drive looking like a kid on Christmas morning. We invite you to have that experience behind the wheel of a great new Porsche car by visiting our showroom at 170 Main Dunstable Road in Nashua, NH today.
