Chances are, you already subscribe to a lot of things — some without necessarily thinking of them as subscriptions. Your favorite magazine is pretty obvious. Your phone, your favorite apps, or your car’s navigation service, perhaps less so. There’s another subscription on the horizon for New England drivers. Here’s the part Porsche Nashua will play.
The subscription is a new program called Porsche Passport. For now, it’s a pilot program available only in the Atlanta metro area, close to the Georgia headquarters of Porsche North America. It combines the best features of ownership and leasing in a way that just might be the future of driving.
For a flat monthly fee, you get a Porsche car or SUV, maintenance, insurance, and concierge service. Unlike ownership, you can change — or “flip” — vehicles. Unlike a lease, the period of time during which you can flip the vehicle isn’t constrained by anything but availability. In theory, you could even use the proprietary app to change vehicles during the course of the same day, driving a Porsche 911 to work in the morning, a Porsche Panamera to a business meeting in the afternoon, and a Porsche Macan later the same evening when you leave for a weekend getaway.
In addition to the perks listed above, there’s another advantage over a conventional lease on a new Porsche car: there are no mileage penalties. That’s good news for many people, since your drive — and your enjoyment — is less restricted.
The service starts at $2,000 per month and will begin rolling out nationwide to Porsche dealerships beyond the Atlanta metro shortly. We’re excited by this because it affords yet another great way to get behind the wheel of the Porsche vehicle you’ve always dreamed of. Even — or maybe especially — if you’ve dreamed of multiple.
