There are so many awards and accolades handed out by the automotive press and various organizations annually that it can be hard to keep up. That’s especially true if you’re tracking the good press earned by Porsche cars and SUVs. Still, all of us at Porsche of Nashua pay closer attention to some benchmarks than others, and when J. D. Power talks, we listen.
This is the time of year when the consumer research organization releases its annual Initial Quality Survey, or IQS. As in years past, the IQS ranks models and car companies based on the initial quality of their vehicles. The precise methodology changes a bit from time to time, but the overarching theme is the same: ask tens of thousands of car buyers hundreds of questions about their first ninety days of vehicle ownership, and tabulate the results.
Rankings are based on the number of problems reported during that 90 day period. Porsche AG is ranked third overall and ranked first among German automakers. What’s more, two new Porsche models — the 2017 Porsche 911 as well as the 2017 Porsche Macan — lead their respective segments in initial quality.
Of course, the Porsche 911 has a half-century-long history, so Porsche AG has had plenty of time to get it right. However, the presence of the Porsche Macan on the list, as well as the company’s high showing overall, just underscores how seriously they take the quality of each vehicle that rolls off the line.
We welcome the acknowledgement of the folks at J. D. Power, and we’re happy that so many owners of Porsche models are happy with their vehicles. We can’t say we’re surprised, of course. Why not join them? Visit your Danvers, MA area Porsche dealership today and experience the essence of Porsche AG firsthand. Porsche of Nashua is located at 170 Main Dunstable Road.
