What’s going on in the world of Porsche cars? Plenty. Here’s a closer look at some stories that the Porsche of Nashua staff thought our Danvers, MA customers would find interesting.
Next Generation Porsche 911 Spotted
We recently received word of the 991.5 Porsche 911, but Porsche AG is already looking ahead — far ahead — to the next generation of their iconic car. This will be the 992 version of the Porsche 911, coming out in 2019.
It’s not just the internal designation that’s changing. While the iconic body shape remains largely intact, what we’re seeing in spy shots indicates that the next-generation 911 Porsche will be wider than before and will sport a much wider active spoiler. It’s based on a new modular platform, and you should also expect a stronger, stiffer, and lighter body alongside a more powerful turbocharged engine. Look for its first appearance in showrooms some time in 2018.
New Porsche Cayman GT4 RS? Oops.
Everyone likes to hear about the latest new Porsche cars, but it turns out that one unlucky Australian dealer may have jumped the gun. They posted an Instagram post (which was hastily removed) that suggested an upcoming limited edition Porsche Cayman GT4 RS powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine.
As rumors go, this one is credible. It was making the rounds a month before the dealer’s post. We’ll have to wait to find out, but an RS variant of the Porsche Cayman would be welcome news to Danvers drivers. We may find out sooner rather than later, since the car may be part of the Porsche display at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
